Until the analogue signal is switched off in a particular region not every household will be able to receive Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT). (In some remote areas it may be that DTT will not provide a good enough picture and therefore other digital options such as satellite or cable may be more appropriate.) Apogee Data Consulting secured the right to use the Joint Planning Project (JPP) database of DTT coverage in May 2004. This database provides information on the current DTT signal for every postcode in the UK. For more information about the JPP please click here.
The DTT signal is broadcast across six multiplexes. A postcode that receives all six multiplexes will receive the full suite of FREEVIEW™ channels. A postcode that can only receive a single multiplex, e.g. Mux 1, will only be able to receive the television channels broadcast on that multiplex. Apogee has developed a program that processes the JPP database in order that data for all six multiplexes (referred to as core coverage) or from a single multiplex can be extracted. It is also possible to identify postcodes that receive their DTT coverage from a particular transmitter.
In some areas of the UK it may be possible to receive DTT however an aerial upgrade may be required. Apogee is also able to identify these postcodes and uses the following key on all the DTT maps, databases and reports:
| Green: | These areas should be able to receive DTT services. | | | | Yellow: | These areas should be able to receive DTT services but a new type of rooftop aerial may be required. "Wide-band" aerials are recommended by most retailers, please contact your local retailer for specialist advice. | | | | White: | Although digital signals have been improved these areas don't receive DTT services. |

 | Once the postcodes that can receive particular multiplexes have been extracted these can be mapped to provide a visual representation of DTT coverage in a particular area. Apogee produces a range of different maps that are fully customisable to meet individual requirements, for more information on the maps that Apogee can produce please click on the image. |

Apogee can also provide DTT coverage databases that are sub-sets of the JPP database. The % DTT coverage of particular regions in the UK can also be calculated. These regions may be postcode sectors, parliamentary constituencies or urban areas. In fact any area of the UK can be described in terms of its % DTT coverage. Please click here for more information.

DTT reports describe the results that are generated by the databases above. This is useful if the information is required for a presentation or for inclusion in a company report. The report could be centred on a particular location with the DTT coverage levels that are found within a specified radius of that point. Please click here for more information.

Please click here for a guide to prices of these DTT products. The actual cost will depend on the number of maps or database areas that are required, therefore for a full written (no obligation) quotation please contact Apogee.
